I completely contradict the first line, woman was not created to complement man, they were made to complement each other there is a perceptible difference between the two that might miss the eye of the author but won’t of a core feminist like me! They are co-existing entities and one need not be studied in comparison to other but as a single unit who work independently yet affect one another.

I would agree with Somya...and ask the author to kindly enlighten us from where she got the idea that God created woman after 5 days he created man. Since, it has a lot to do with Holy Bible, I would like to contradict and say that the book Genesis contains the fact that God created man and woman at the same time. To quote: Genesis 1.27

”So God created man in His own image;in the image of god He created him; male and female He created them.”

Let’s get one thing straight. Men cannot live without women and women too cannot live without men. That’s how nature wants us to be and that is how we will be till humans exist on the face of this planet. Meanwhile, we always will have differences. BTW if everybody thought alike, this world would be one very boring place. Just couldn’t resist using this line here!

Two feminist at their best @Mayuri Majumdar @ Somya .... When it comes of quoting from Genesis, I am knaive at it... But i too personally feel that woman were not created to complement a man rather they should complement to each other !

Hi to all,

The reaction is a genuine one.Let me clear one thing , it was not my idea,its an old biblical mention.Its a part of Genesis 2 as mentioned here by mayuri ,somya.....But the analysis in Genesis 2 have taken a turn. Now Men & Women must be there together without having a singel minute thought of created to complement man or to complement each other.Everyone is aware that there is a perceptible difference between the two and that can not be miss by any one eye.

. In fact, I even heard a derogatory joke about women at a seminary. The story goes that God was talking to Adam and said, ”Adam, I can make you the perfect counterpart. She’ll always look beautiful, she’ll always make you happy, and she’ll never talk back — but it’ll cost you an arm and a leg.” Adam though for a minute, then replied, ”What can I get for a rib?”

How does that joke make a woman feel? Cheap, inadequate. The Bible addresses the root of many of these problems in Genesis 2, where we have the account of the creation of woman. Do you want to learn how to solve these problems? Let’s turn to Gen. 2:15. Now, just to give a little context, Gen.1 gives a brief creation account that God ”made man in His own image, male and female He created them,” but Genesis 2 gives a more detailed account of the 6th day of creation with respect to man and woman:

15 And Jehovah God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

16 And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

18 And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.

19 And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field, and every bird of the heavens; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20 And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but for man there was not found a help meet for him.

21 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof:

22 and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

The core of the submission stood at that God made woman to be the perfect counterpart to man, He made the woman different from the man, and we should respect the difference.

Now come to present day ituation where we find the homosexual discussion the relationship at TV mentioning it as a new world open to them. The same way lesbining may get recognition after homo.

The submission was simple at my part. Respect the difference between the two in their natural flavour.

About God and his creations – I simply do not understand if God created men then why he did not insert some sense in their brains. Only then, they would have known how to respect the difference or what ever it is. It seems that your God was after all a male chauvinist.
